Pressure on Federal Acquisition Workforce Grows, New Survey

Results from a survey released December show that the federal
acquisition workforce continues to face enormous pressures, including
increasingly complex oversight and growing mission
requirements.
“The survey
results clearly show what the new administration will have to contend
with in relation to the federal procurement system, and since the U.S.
Government acquires $450 billion a year in goods and services,
acquisition issues should be a high priority,” said PSC President
and CEO Stan Soloway.
The survey
report, “Acquisition in Transition: Workforce, Oversight and
Mission,” was released today by the Professional Services Council
and Grant Thornton LLP. It is the fourth biannual PSC Procurement
Policy Survey.
“This
report is unique because it represents the voices of the acquisition
community in their own words,” said Grant Thornton Partner, and
project lead, Diane Denholm. “Now, more than ever, it is
imperative that acquisition leaders have a seat at the table if the
critical issues facing the federal government are to be
addressed.”
