This class shows Project Managers how to use effective HR strategies to create a high-performing workforce on their Federal contracts. It is offered in conjunction with "People Skills for Federal Project Managers" the following day. Together, they are designed to provide a compact leadership toolkit for the Federal project manager.
This course gives participants a solid
foundation in both employment law and HR
strategy. The course is specifically designed for Federal contractors.
Lead instructor Wanda Johnson, a former employment
prosecutor and regulator, now advises clients on
ways to prevent employment problems. Her class for
CSA distills the key knowledge that project managers
and HR professionals need for Federal contracts.
This one-day course covers:
EEO Laws: The legal foundation for hiring, firing and disciplining employees.
Do's and Don't of employment interviewing and questioning.
Managing employee benefits.
Stress-free employment appraisals.
Fair Labor Standards Act exemptions and how they affect your business.
Ensuring ROI on new hires through strategic boarding of employees for good fit and maximum productivity.
You also will learn to navigate the dual employment/supervision issues that are unique to onsite Federal contract personnel.
Wanda's classes are highly interactive,
so bring all your questions. Wanda will be available
during lunch and after class for one-on-one
consultations, and by e-mail after the class.

The course is designed for business owners, project managers, contract administrators, and employees who want to know more about the legal and HR practices that contribute to leading high-performing teams on Federal contracts. It is appropriate for beginning HR professionals, but not for seasoned HR staff.
